We don't want to build another app that makes you feel bad
If you've ever used an app to track what you eat, you probably know the feeling: you log your day honestly, then wait to be graded — flagged red, told you "went over." Foods get sorted into "good" and "bad," as if one wrong bite were a moral failure. Bit by bit, opening the app stops being about understanding yourself and becomes about turning in homework — and apologizing for it.
We're building CarbClue because we've had enough of that.
We want to be your friend, not your supervisor
A tool that's genuinely on your side should look like this:
- It describes; it doesn't judge. No "good foods" or "bad foods," no "cheat meals," no shaming red alerts. It tells you clearly what happened — the rest is your call.
- It's honest with you. The price is the price. No traps to make you renew by accident, no anxiety manufactured to keep you around.
- It respects your pace. Your food diary shouldn't wait on the network or stutter. Log it offline, and trust that it's saved.
- It makes the complicated simple. How net carbs actually add up, whether a food fits your plan — clear at a glance, not a pile of numbers that just make you more anxious.
Why now, and why us
More and more people are managing their health with keto, low-carb, or with the help of GLP-1. It's personal, and it takes patience. But the tools out there either treat you like a number to be corrected, or use tricks to keep you hooked. We want to build something different: a companion that's beside you and honest with you.
And we've decided to build it in the open — sharing as we go. Not to show off progress, but to hold ourselves to it: if we say we're making an honest, non-judgmental product, then the way we build it has to be honest and out in the open too.
Want to come along?
If this sounds like the tool you've been wanting, come build it with us. Early access opens soon — and your real needs and stories will genuinely shape what it becomes.
CarbClue provides general wellness information and is not a substitute for professional medical advice.
